For the first few years of BearCross, we did not offer design services. When a client asked us if we could help with logo placement, packaging design, or product appearance, our answer was usually: “We can introduce you to a freelancer we know.” That worked for a while. But over time, we started to realize that this approach was creating a gap in our service.
Here is the typical scenario. A client — let us say a small fitness brand in Australia — wants to order custom yoga wear. They have a clear vision: a specific color, a logo on the left chest, and a unique cut for the leggings. But they do not have a design file. They cannot send us a technical drawing. All they have is a rough idea and a few photos from Instagram.
In the past, we would have struggled to help them. We would have spent days trying to explain their idea to the factory, only to receive a sample that looked nothing like what they imagined. The client would get frustrated. We would get frustrated. And the factory would wonder why we were wasting their time.
That is why we decided to bring design in-house.
Earlier this year, we added a dedicated designer to our team. This is not a freelancer we call occasionally. This is someone who sits with the rest of us, reviews client inquiries together, and works directly with our partner factories on a daily basis.
What does this mean for you? A few things.
First, if you have a custom order idea but no design background, you no longer need to worry about technical drawings. You can send us rough sketches, reference photos, or even just a written description. Our designer will turn that into a factory-ready file.
Second, the design service is included with most qualifying custom orders. There is no separate fee if you are already ordering production quantities. For standalone design consultations (for example, if you only need a logo or packaging design without placing a production order), we do charge a small fee — but it is significantly lower than what most freelance designers ask for.
Third, and perhaps most importantly, this service has already shortened our sample approval time. Because our designer communicates directly with the factory’s production team, we catch potential issues early — before the sample is even made. That means fewer back-and-forth revisions and faster delivery of the final product.
We do not claim to be a full-fledged design agency. We do not do branding strategy, market research, or complex 3D modeling for industrial machinery. But for the three categories we know well — wheels, pipes, and yoga wear — we can now offer design support that is practical, fast, and affordable.
If you have been hesitating to place a custom order because you were not sure how to communicate your design idea to a factory, give us a try. Send us your rough sketches or reference photos. We will show you what we can do.
